ABOUT
Cory Emma Siegler is a visual artist based in Brooklyn, NY who makes textile works, drawings, collages, artists’ books, and furniture. Her practice is guided by a philosophy of resourcefulness and a deep appreciation for the physicality of handiwork. She believes that through the deliberate act of “making it yourself”, we gain a profound understanding of the labor, skill, and history embedded in the objects that surround us. Cory earned a BFA from Pratt Institute in 2008. Her work has been shown in exhibitions at the Brooklyn Museum (Brooklyn, NY), Onna House (East Hampton, NY), Jennifer Terzian Gallery (Litchfield, CT), Turley Gallery (Hudson, NY), MONO Practice Gallery (Baltimore, MD), 80WSE at NYU Gallery (New York, NY), Bard Graduate Center Gallery (New York, NY), and Printed Matter, Inc. (New York, NY). She has been an artist in residence at the Haystack Mountain School of Crafts (Deer Isle, ME), Vermont Studio Center (Johnson, VT), the Wassaic Project (Wassaic, NY), and the Textile Arts Center (Brooklyn, NY).
